Educational Scholarships

In keeping with the Lions Club motto “We Serve”, the Porterville Breakfast Lions Club provides scholarships to local high schools and Porterville College with scholarships each year. These scholarships are presented to high school seniors and Porterville sophomores continuing on to colleges across the United States. These scholarships are funded by Lions projects throughout the year.

Over the past six years sixty-six Porterville students have received scholarships worth over $30,000. These students
These scholarships go to students attending eight high schools in the Porterville area; Porterville High School, Monache High School, Strathmore High School, Granite High School, Harmony Magnet Academy, Summit Collegiate High School and Porterville Military Academy, as well as. One scholarship of $500 goes to each of the eight high schools. The Jack Shannon Memorial Scholarship ($500) is awarded to the outstanding high school student in the field of agriculture. Jack Shannon was a member of the Porterville Breakfast Lion Club for many years and was a leading cattle rancher in California.

Porterville College sponsors two scholarships honoring former Porterville Breakfast Lions Club. The Hank Brovelli Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a student demonstrating qualities of scholarly endeavor in a variety of disciplines. This scholarship, worth $750, goes to a student transferring to a four year university. Hank was a long-time club member of the Porterville Breakfast Lions Club.

Larry Lindgren was a Porterville business owner and member of the Porterville Breakfast Lions Club. This $500 Scholarship goes to a Business or Music Major transferring to a four year university.

The Porterville Breakfast Lions Club is honored to have the opportunity to honor students who have worked so hard and have shown the commitment to earn these scholarships.
